Taupiri wins MacKenzie Salver
3-5 March 2006

The Taupiri polo club ran a successful MacKenzie Salver Tournament from Friday to Sunday at their Huntly grounds. Eight teams entered the Freedom Press sponsored 0 goal tournament. Much to the delight of the local supporters, Taupiri B prevailed over Morrinsville B in the final. Taupiri president Peter Thompson was in the winning team. Taupiri was behind on the scoreboard for 90% of the 4 chukka match. Morrinsville B's Luke Reed and Tom Hunt were doing all the scoring. It took a huge effort from the Taupiri B team to come from behind to even up the scores early in the final chukker and then Harry Tucker scored the goal that put Taupiri in front to win.
