In front of a large crowd on the main field of the Willow Park polo club Tommy Wilson scored the winning goal 10 seconds into the extra time chukker to clinch the final for the men from the Waimai Polo club.
The goal came after both teams ended the 6th chukker even at 7-7. Cody Forsyth's Mitavite team had held the lead right up to the start of the 6th chukker. They dominated the first 3 chukkers to have a 6-3 lead going into half time.
The Piquet Hill team had been slow starters in all of their pool matches but they tended to come home strongly.
Tommy and his brother Craig each scored in the 4th chukker to edge closer to Mitavite's lead. Cody Forsyth converted a penalty 4 to take the score back to a two-goal advantage early in the 5th chukker.
